Tamara Valmas has been appointed the Essex-based housing association’s head of housing (neighbourhoods), after a 15-year career in the sector, most recently as Home Group’s operations manager for Essex and Suffolk.

Claire Morris has also been named as head of housing for operations at the 14,500-home landlord, following stints in senior jobs at MHS Homes and East Herts District Council.

Ms Valmas said: “Eastlight’s shift to place‑based working is ambitious, resident‑focused and firmly rooted in local knowledge.

“I’m looking forward to shaping neighbourhood teams that are visible, trusted and equipped to respond to the specific needs of each community.”

Ms Morris said: “Returning to Essex and joining Eastlight at such a transformative moment is very exciting.

“My priority will be on strengthening operational consistency, partnership working and accountability, so residents experience services that are simpler, quicker and more connected moving forward.”

Eastlight said the appointments “will play a pivotal role in embedding stronger leadership, improving service consistency and ensuring residents receive quicker, more joined-up support”.

Last month, the landlord launched 32 new neighbourhood leads and teams across its four regions and nine local authority areas.

Announcing the move last August, Eastlight said “too many” residents do not feel it is visible enough or makes a contribution to their neighbourhoods, citing the annual tenant satisfaction measures

It said the neighbourhood teams “will include approachable, familiar colleagues with a wide range of expertise, who will be able to resolve issues more quickly where possible”.

Eastlight added: “For you, this will mean more personal responses, clearer communication and less time waiting for things to get sorted.”

The landlord also said it would be updating its systems, developing new technology and rolling out skills training to staff.
